Why does «Rem. budget» appear as uncertainty on some production codes?

The remaining budget was allocated to uncertainty in the notice at the first purchase. Delete the «Rem. budget – …» items in the Uncertainty module if you want one method for the whole project.

If someone chose to allocate the remaining budget to uncertainty in the notice that appears at the first purchase on a production code, an uncertainty item called «Rem. budget – [production code]» has been created. The remaining budget is then counted as a cost on that code, while it shows as a gain on other codes. The result is an inconsistent picture.

How to clean up

  1. Go to the Uncertainty module in the left menu. There you see all uncertainties on the project, with production code and description.

  2. Find the items called «Rem. budget – …».

  3. Open the item, or go to the Uncertainty tab on the production code, and select Delete.

  4. Go to the production code and check that the final forecast now equals the contract.

The Uncertainty module. 1: an uncertainty item. 2: Edit, where you select items and delete them.

Choose one method for the whole project

  • Gain as remaining budget: The remaining budget stays on the production code, the final forecast equals the contract, and the contribution margin increases.

  • Provision as uncertainty: The remaining budget is set aside as uncertainty, and the final forecast stays as in the estimate.

Both work, but use the same method on all codes so the figures are comparable.
