With a transaction you can move money between production codes (prod. codes) with a Transfer, or add money to and take money out of the project with Deposit and Withdrawal. The advantage is that everything is preserved in the history, instead of the figures being adjusted manually.
A transfer changes the revised budget
A transfer changes the revised budget on the prod. codes, not the final forecast. Remaining posting is calculated against the final forecast, and the final forecast is based on the planned costs — for example contracts and Change Order Sub. After a transfer, the remaining posting therefore stays untouched.
If you want the final forecast to move from one prod. code to another, you need to move the planned costs.
How to move the final forecast
Adjust the costs on the contract or Change Order Sub so that the amount is distributed to the correct prod. code.
If an invoice belongs to several prod. codes, you can split the invoice and choose the correct link and amount for each part. See Invoice linking.
If a small remaining amount is left over, you can add a purchase as a final adjustment.
Finding, editing and deleting transactions
Transactions to or from a prod. code are found in the detail view of the prod. code. There you can also edit or delete them. For an overview, you can show the sum of the transactions as a separate column in the prod. code table.
Note: it may take a little while before the figures on a prod. code are recalculated after a change.
