Why doesn't the final forecast increase when I register cost price on a Change Order Client?

Cost price only adjusts the revised budget. If the change order should affect the final forecast, you must link an actual cost (Change Order Sub) to the line.

Cost price on a Change Order Client is the cost you show the client for carrying out the work. When the change order is approved, the cost price adjusts the revised budget on the production code, but it does not go to the final forecast. If the change order should increase the final forecast, you must link an actual cost to the line, typically a Change Order Sub with a cost.

How to link an actual cost to the line

  1. Open the Change Order Client and go to the line.

  2. Click Link on the left of the line.

  3. Choose Pass on costs if a Change Order Sub already exists, or New cost to create one.

  4. On the Change Order Sub, enter Cost claim and Cost. It is Cost that goes to the final forecast.

  5. Save.

The lines on a Change Order Client. 1: Pass on costs, where you link the line to costs on a Change Order Sub or Setup and Operation. 2: the link icon next to the cost on the line. 3: the Cost column.

Don't have a price from the subcontractor yet?

Enter the expected cost and adjust it when the actual cost arrives, or use an expected addition. The actual cost may be higher or lower than the cost price you have shown the client.

Exception: the cost is already in a contract

If the cost is already included in a subcontract, you should not link an additional cost to the change order. Otherwise the cost would be counted twice.
