If the cost of a client change order is already included in a subcontract, for example because the contract was signed after the change was known, register the Change Order Client as usual with cost price and revenue, but without linking an additional cost to it. The project then gets the revenue, while the cost is only counted once, in the contract.
How to do it
Go to Change Order → Change Order Client and create the change order.
Enter the line with Cost price and markup, so that you get the correct revenue claim.
Do not link any Change Order Sub or new cost to the line.
Set the status when the client has replied, and save.
What happens in the figures?
The cost price adjusts the revised budget on the production code.
The final forecast is still driven by the contract, where the cost already sits.
The change order gives revenue without additional cost, because the cost is included elsewhere.
Do you know the change order is coming before the contract is signed?
Enter a Change Order Sub with a cost claim of 0, or an expected addition that you transfer into the contract when it is signed. On production codes without purchases, the final forecast is adjusted by the change order.
