How do I link a new cost to a Change Order Client when the subcontractor change order does not exist yet?

Click Link on the line and choose New cost. This creates a Change Order Sub with a cost claim, and cost can stay at 0 until it should go to the final forecast.

If there is no Change Order Sub yet, click Link on the line in the Change Order Client and choose New cost. This creates a new Change Order Sub for the subcontractor or consultant directly from the change order. Enter the expected amount as the cost claim, and leave cost at 0 until it should go to the final forecast.

How to do it

  1. Open the Change Order Client and go to the line.

  2. Click Link on the left of the line.

  3. Choose New cost. The New Change Order Sub window opens.

  4. Fill in Number, Name, Group, Contract and Supplier.

  5. Under Costs, enter the Cost claim with the expected amount. Cost can stay at 0.

  6. Save.

The lines on a Change Order Client. 1: Pass on costs. 2: the link icon on the line, where you choose New cost when the Change Order Sub does not exist yet. 3: the Cost column.

Does the subcontractor change order already exist?

Instead, choose Pass on costs and select the existing Change Order Sub, for example a change notice from the consultant.

Good to know

  • If you don't know which number the subcontractor change order will get, enter a temporary number. Numbering is free and can be corrected later.

  • It is Cost that goes to the final forecast. Set it when you want the cost to count.
