How do I link a Change Order Client to Setup and Operation?

Carry the cost on the Change Order Client forward to the right expense item in Setup and Operation and distribute the amount. This gives a revised budget on the expense item.

When a Change Order Client increases setup and operation costs, for example wages or rent, you can carry the cost forward to the right expense item in Setup and Operation. You link the change order to the expense item and distribute the amount across the months. The result is a revised budget on the expense item.

How to do it

  1. Open the Change Order Client.

  2. On the line with the setup cost, choose to carry the cost forward to Setup and Operation.

  3. Select the right expense item.

  4. Distribute the amount across the months. You can edit the accrual directly from the change order.

  5. Save.

  6. In Setup and Operation, check that the cost has come in, in the Revised budget adjustment and Revised budget columns.

The window for an expense item in Setup and Operation. 1: the Revised budget adjustment field, which shows amounts from a Change Order Client linked to the expense item. 2: Rev. budget.

Do I always have to do this?

No. If the site setup is already in place, the change order often causes no real additional cost. Many then just enter the revenue to the client, without a cost. If you want to be on the safe side, you can still add the cost via the link to Setup and Operation.
