Which settings should I choose in Setup and Operation?

Always turn on «Forecast goes to the project forecast», calculate the final forecast from posted values for closed months plus accrued figures ahead, and consider «Unique production code for each expense item».

We recommend always turning on Forecast goes to the project forecast, so that Setup and Operation drives the final forecast. For calculating the final forecast, the most common and recommended choice is posted values for closed months plus accrued figures ahead. Consider using Unique production code for each expense item, so invoices can be routed automatically.

The settings

  • Forecast goes to the project forecast: The forecast from Setup and Operation goes to the final forecast on the production codes. We recommend always keeping this on.

  • Final forecast calculation: Three options:

    • posted values for closed months plus accrued ahead (recommended)

    • the budget always drives, regardless of invoices and accruals

    • the highest of budget and forecast, to be on the safe side

  • Unique production code for each expense item: Only the production codes are accrued, with one expense item per code.

  • Enable use of locked budget: You set an original budget per month, lock it and manage the forecast separately.

How to change the settings

  1. Go to Setup and Operation.

  2. Open Settings.

  3. Choose the settings above and save.

The Edit forecast settings window in Setup and Operation. 1: Enable use of locked budget. 2: Unique production code for each expense item. 3: Forecast, where completed months use posted values. 4: Highest, where the highest of forecast and budget goes to the final forecast.
