Should I use an expected addition or register a change order?

If you know there will be a change order, register it as a change order with the status Notice. Use an expected addition as a provision when you do not know what the cost will turn into.

If you know there will be a change order, register it as a change order right away, with the status Notice if it has not been approved yet. Use Expected Addition as a provision when you know a cost is coming, but not whether it will become a change order, a new purchase or own production.

How to choose

  • Change Order: It is clear there will be a change order with the subcontractor or the client. Register it under Change Order, set the status to Notice until it is settled, and consider using Group to tag it, for example «expected change order».

  • Expected Addition: You want to set aside the cost, but do not yet know how it will come. Add it on the production code.

How to add an expected addition

  1. Go to Prod. codes and open the production code.

  2. Click Add and select Expected Addition.

  3. Fill in the description and amount, and save.

Where can I see all expected additions?

The Expected Addition module in the left menu gathers all expected additions on the project, just as Purchasing gathers all purchases. You also find a separate column for expected additions in the Prod. codes table.
