How do I paste data from Excel into a table?

Copy the cells in Excel, click where you want to start in the AIMZ table and press Ctrl+V. New rows are created automatically.

You paste data from Excel by copying the cells in Excel and pressing Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) in the table in AIMZ. If you paste more rows than the table has, new rows are created automatically.

How to do it

  1. Make sure the columns in Excel are in the same order as the columns in the AIMZ table.

  2. Select the cells in Excel and press Ctrl+C.

  3. Click the cell in AIMZ where the paste should start. To create new rows, click in the New row row at the bottom.

  4. Press Ctrl+V. A message shows how many values were pasted and how many new rows were added.

  5. Check the values. Changed cells turn green, and invalid values turn red.

  6. Click Save changes at the bottom of the table.

Good to know

  • If you paste something wrong, press Ctrl+Z to undo.

  • Fields that cannot be changed are skipped. If the paste hits a locked column, in some tables you can choose whether the values should be pasted in the same position or skip the locked columns.

  • As long as a cell is red, you cannot save.

  • If you need to enter a very large number of rows at once, for example an entire chart of accounts, you can still use the import.
