Why are the fields greyed out when I try to create a project or a production code?

Greyed-out fields, fields you cannot type in, or a page that just keeps loading are usually caused by your role — here is how to fix it.

If the fields are greyed out, you cannot type in them, or the page just keeps loading when you create a project or a production code, the cause is usually that your role does not give you access to that action. The same applies if a delete button is greyed out.

Access control. 1: Add user. 2: Role. 3: the menu on a user.

How to fix it

  1. Check where you are creating it. Access is granted at a specific level — project, department, organisation or group. For example, if you create a project under a level where you do not have permissions, it will not work.

  2. Ask a colleague with the Admin or Owner role to give you the right role, or contact us in the chat.

  3. Refresh your browser once your role has been changed, and try again.
