The import in AIMZ reads the file column by column. The file must therefore be a clean table: the column headers start in cell A1, each column has one header in the first row, and the data is in the rows below. Subheadings, merged cells and total rows inside the table cause the import to fail or read incorrectly.
How to prepare the file
Make sure the first column header is in cell A1, at the very top left of the sheet.
Give each column one header in the first row, for example Name, Prod. code, Group and Cost price.
Put the data in rows directly below the headers, one entry per row.
Remove subheadings, merged cells and total rows inside the table.
Put the production code as a number or code in a separate column.
Enter numbers and percentages using number format in Excel, not as text.
Remove columns you don't need, or make sure they don't break the table format.
Estimate from your own estimating software
Export the estimate at the lowest level to Excel or CSV. You then get one row per estimate line, which is what the import needs. An export with group headings and subtotals must be cleaned up before import.
Good to know
The columns in the file don't need to have the same names as the fields in AIMZ. You map the columns to the fields in the next step of the import.
If you use the AIMZ template, the mapping almost takes care of itself.
If you get stuck, you can send us the file in the chat.
