Which columns should a finance director have in the portfolio view?

Start with revenue forecast, final forecast, contribution margin, contribution margin (%) and variance to budget. Add posted and degree of completion if you track progress, and save the setup as a shared profile.

Start with five columns: revenue forecast, final forecast, contribution margin, contribution margin (%) and variance to budget. They answer whether the projects are earning what they should. Save the setup as a shared table profile, so the whole management team sees the same thing.

Recommended setup

  • Revenue forecast and final forecast: Expected revenue and cost when the project is finished.

  • Contribution margin and contribution margin (%): Expected result in kroner and percent.

  • Variance to budget: Shows which projects have moved the most since the estimate.

  • Posted and degree of completion (optional): Shows how far the project has come.

  • Project manager and department: Makes it easy to filter and to know who to ask.
