How do I add work in Own Production?

Create a work package with a name, a period and lines with production code, quantity and unit cost.

You add work with the Add work button in Own Production. A work item is a work package, for example «Concrete works», with a period and one or more lines, each with a production code, quantity and unit cost.

How to do it

  1. Go to Own Production in the left menu and click Add work.

  2. Enter the Name of the work, for example «Interior carpentry».

  3. Select the Period, i.e. from and to which month the work will take place.

  4. Enter the lines under Build cost manually. For each line, select the Production code and fill in Description, Unit, Quantity and Unit cost. Amount is calculated automatically as quantity × unit cost.

  5. Under Distribute cost over time, the amount is automatically distributed evenly across the months in the period. Adjust the distribution if you know the cost incurred will be uneven.

  6. Click Confirm.

The Add work dialog in Own Production. 1: the Name field. 2: the Production code column on the line. 3: Confirm.

Tips for the setup

  • Use the same quantities and resource names as in the estimate. That makes it easy to reconcile against the estimate later.

  • If an estimate item has both labour hours and materials, enter it as two lines in the same work item, one per production code. The lines can have the same description, because the production code distinguishes them.

  • Lines cannot easily be moved from one work item to another. So decide how to divide the work before you enter the lines.

  • Initially, the forecast equals the budget. It changes when you log actual consumption.
