Own Production is a separate module in AIMZ for tracking work you carry out with your own crew, for example concrete or carpentry work. You set up the work as quantities, labour hours and materials, distribute it month by month, and log what has actually been done. The final forecast on the production codes is updated automatically based on this.
How the module works
You create a work package, for example «Concrete works» or «Interior carpentry», with a period.
Each work package has one or more lines, for example crew and various materials. Each line has a quantity, unit and unit cost, and can have its own production code.
The amount or quantity on each line is distributed across the months in the period. The default is an even distribution, but you can adjust each month yourself.
Each month you log the actual quantity and cost. Deviations from the plan are shown, and the final forecast on the production codes is updated.
How does Own Production affect the final forecast?
Own Production works like a contract: the lines in own production form the basis for the final forecast on the production codes or accounts they are linked to. What you have actually spent is still shown in the posted figures from the accounting system. In other words, the module is a budget and a forecast for own production, while the posted cost is the actual result.
When should I use Own Production?
Use the module when own production is a large part of the project and you want to track quantities and hours against the estimate.
Consider skipping it on small projects. The module requires someone to follow up regularly, typically with a monthly reconciliation. Where own production is small, tracking the total on the production code is often enough.
Good to know
Tracking is done per month. Weekly tracking is not supported today.
Lines are entered manually. If you have many items, AIMZ can help with the setup.
The module is new and under continued development. Contact us in the chat if you want help getting started.
