How do I track own production on a production code that also has a subcontractor contract?

Create a separate purchase of the type Purchase for the own production, alongside the subcontractor contract, and link the vouchers to it.

If a production code has both a subcontract and own production, we recommend creating a separate purchase of the type Purchase for the own production. The subcontractor contract and the own production then sit as two purchases on the same code, and the final forecast is driven by both.

How to do it

  1. Open the production code in Prod. codes and click New contract under Purchasing. You can also create the purchase from the Purchasing module.

  2. Select Type: Purchase.

  3. Give the purchase a descriptive name, for example «Own production – concrete».

  4. Supplier is optional. You can select your own company or leave the field empty if the vouchers don't come from a single supplier.

  5. Add a cost line with the Production code and the expected Cost for the own production.

  6. Save.

The new purchase window. 1: the Type field, where you select Purchase for materials. 2: Name. 3: the cost line with production code and amount.

Why a separate purchase and not an expected addition?

  • You can link vouchers and invoices for the own production directly to the purchase, separate from the subcontractor contract.

  • You control the forecast for the own production by adjusting the amount on the purchase.

  • The subcontractor contract and the own production can be tracked separately, both on the production code and in Purchasing.

Good to know

If you track own production with quantities and hours month by month, you can use the Own Production module instead. It adds the own production as a separate line that counts towards the final forecast on the code.
