Can I add a cost to a Change Order Client without a Change Order Sub?

Yes. If you add a cost line directly to a Change Order Client, AIMZ creates an expected addition on the production code. It can later be converted into a Change Order Sub.

Yes. If you add a cost line directly to a Change Order Client, without a linked Change Order Sub, AIMZ automatically creates an expected addition on the production code. The cost is then included in the final forecast, and the expected addition can later be converted into a Change Order Sub once you have a price from the supplier.

How to do it

  1. Open the Change Order Client.

  2. Add a line on the right production code and enter the expected cost.

  3. Set the markup to get the revenue claim.

  4. Save. AIMZ creates an expected addition on the production code.

  5. When the supplier sends a price, convert the expected addition into a Change Order Sub.

A Change Order Client with a cost line. 1: Carry costs forward. 2: the link icon showing whether the cost is linked to a Change Order Sub. 3: the Cost column.

When is this useful?

When the client wants a fixed price quickly, but you haven't made the purchase yet. For example, you can calculate the cost from a known hourly rate. You then get both the revenue and the expected cost into the forecast without waiting for a quote.

Revenue without cost

If no real cost arises, for example for site setup or administration, just enter the amount to the client and leave the cost empty. The line then doesn't even need to be linked to a production code.
