How do I see whether a line on a Change Order Client is linked to a subcontractor cost?

Look in the Cost column on the line. A linked line shows a link icon and the number of links, while a line without a link shows the Link button.

Look in the Cost column on the lines in the change order. If the line is linked to a subcontractor cost, a link icon and the number of links are shown. If it is not linked, the Link button is shown.

How to do it

  1. Go to Change Order Client and open the change order.

  2. Look at the Cost column on each line. The link icon with a number shows how many subcontractor costs the line is linked to.

  3. Find the lines that only show Link. They have no linked subcontractor cost.

  4. Click Link to link the line to a Change Order Subcontractor, or enter the cost as an expected addition if the subcontractor change does not exist yet.

Good to know

  • This is a quick way to check that all the costs behind a change order are included.

  • If the cost is missing on a line, the final forecast becomes too low and the contribution margin on the change order too high.

  • The light green color on rows in the Change Order Client table shows the status Approved, not that the lines are linked.

  • A cost line can well have zero income.
